Excessive and obscene: Union ‘completely outraged’ over vice chancellor salaries
The president of a tertiary education union has slammed the “excessive” and obscene ” wages university vice chancellors are receiving.
As it emerged seven-figure salaries are being paid to the head of some of country’s biggest universities, National Tertiary Education Union president Alison Barnes says the educators she represents are “completely outraged” by the revelation.

“These are excessive and obscene vice chancellor salaries,” Ms Barnes told Shane McInnes on 3AW Drive.
“They pay themselves over a million dollars, but we’re looking at up to $380m being underpaid to most vulnerable staff at universities.
“Our members are completely outraged.”
