Essendon coach John Worsfold spoke to 3AW on Sunday afternoon.
He said he doesn’t think fans should boo players who leave the club.
“People have got to understand that’s the nature of the game,” Worsfold said.
“We had Josh Green playing pretty well for us, and James Kelly, who have come from other clubs.
“If we’re going to welcome players to our club, then we have to understand it goes both ways.”
Worsfold also said he’ll open negotiations with Jobe Watson for a contract extension in the coming weeks.

Port coach Ken Hinkley spoke to 3AW before the clash.
He explained why he encourages his players to stay off social media.
“Social media is a platform for negative and, sometimes, abusive feedback,” Hinkley said.
“In elite sport, or anything that you’re in the public eye, you leave yourself more open to criticism.
“Not many people hand out pats on the back too often.
“I think it’s dangerous and, in the world we live in today, I don’t see the need to hear that if I’m a player.”
