Tom Elliott had some strong comments for the ABC and its chair Kim Williams this morning, after Williams called for more funding for the broadcasting corporation.

The 3AW Mornings host went on to say “the ABC is a failure, its radio ratings are terrible”.

“Now I think the ABC has got to rethink what it’s actually on about,” he said.

Board member of ABC Alumni and former ABC editorial director, Alan Sunderland, then came on to defend Kim Williams and the ABC.

“What matters is what the stats tell you … it remains hugely trusted, hugely valued and accessed by the vast majority of Australians every single month,” Mr Sunderland told Tom Elliott.

And Elliott “disagreed vehemently” with some of Mr Sunderland’s arguments.
