Why there’s been a push to abolish junior rates
There are calls to get rid of junior rates for eighteen and nineteen-year-olds with leading unionists claiming “it’s time”.
National secretary of the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association, Gerard Dwyer, says many other developed countries don’t have junior rates.
“People need to understand, these guys pay full rates for their petrol, they pay full rates for their groceries, they pay full rates for their rent,” he told Tom Elliott.
