Neil Mitchell has condemned the Saudi Arabian soccer team after they failed to join the Socceroos in a minute’s silence before last night’s World Cup qualifier.

The pre-game tribute was dedicated to remembering the victims of the London terror attack, where two Australians lost their lives.

While the Socceroos stood arm in arm, the Saudi’s continued warming up, claiming the tribute didn’t fit in with their ‘culture.’

“I think what the players did last night was a huge insult to Australia and the victims of terrorism.

“They expect you to follow their cultural traditions, what about ours?

“We’re expected to wear head scarfs when we go there.

“No respect, no dignity, they rubbed our faces in it.

“They should apologise and get out of the country.”

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation has since released a statement apologising for any offence they caused.

“The Saudi Arabian Football Federation deeply regrets and unreservedly apologises for any offence caused by the failure of some members of the representative team of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to formally observe the one minute’s silence in memory of the victims of the London terrorist attack,” the statement read on their website.

“The Saudi Arabian Football Federation condemns all acts of terrorism and extremism and extends its sincerest condolences to the families of all the victims and to the Government and people of the United Kingdom.”
