Richmond has announced Dustin Martin will miss Thursday night’s against Adelaide game due to illness.

It means his much-anticipated 300th game will now take place at the MCG against Hawthorn, rather than interstate at the Adelaide Oval.

The news lead to Tony Shaw and Sam McClure discussing whether the Tigers’ cautious approach to Martin’s fitness had anything to do with where his 300th game would’ve been played if he was fit to play in the upcoming round.

“I think it’s a club-led thing and it may have been (organised) in pre-season (for Martin to have break mid-season),” Tony Shaw said on Wide World of Sports.

“Dustin Martin is the biggest game player the game has ever seen.”
