AFL criticised for discrepancies in consequences for players and officials
The AFL has been criticised for taking days to hand down sanctions on Port Adelaide player, Jeremy Finlayson.
Psychologist and founder of Gay, That’s OK, Lachlan Beaten says the term mentioned in the statement, “conduct unbecoming” doesn’t capture the essence of the AFL finds important.
“It tells a story, he did apologise very quickly, which is very noble of him, but what it says to me, they’re probably not sure how to deal with it,” he told 3AW Drive.

He says he also wonders why there are discrepancies between the consequences players and officials face.
“Anything that is said to vilify someone of a LGBTQ reference is damaging,” he said.
