The standard of rental properties in Victoria is again in the spotlight, three years after rental laws were overhauled.

Victorian Council of Social Service CEO Juanita Pope says she’s still seeing “terrible situations” with the quality of the state’s rental properties.

“Far too many properties are still failing to comply with the minimum standards that are set in Victorian law,” she told 3AW Drive.

“That’s something that every property should be meeting in Victoria, but we’re still seeing terrible situations where renters are in properties that aren’t meeting those standards.”
