AFL CEO Andrew Dillon has responded to the founding president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Dick Pound’s criticism of the league’s illicit drugs policy.

Pound compared the secret drug testing regime to the controversial state-run programs by East Germany which allowed athletes to cheat without being detected for many years.

“I think he’s way off the mark there, and I don’t think they are ones that I want to go into because I think they are ill-informed and wrong,” Dillon told Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings.

Dillon also clarified the stance by the league in banning the ground invader from the Adelaide Geelong game for life, and also spoke on the new Governor-General Samantha Mostyn, the rules surrounding the lightning delay and the treatment of Jack Ginnivan by the umpires.
