Richmond’s Nick Vlastuin has cheekily laughed off a crucial free kick he was paid in the dying stages of his side’s win over Sydney.

The hard-nosed defender won what appeared to be a contentious high free kick as Sydney were pushing to take the lead late in the match.

When asked about the call post-match, Vlastuin was in no doubt it was the right call by the umpire.

“It was a high (free kick) and they may have hit me in the head,” he said on 3AW Football.

“The umpire got that one right because we don’t get many.
