Calls to ban dark roofs from new housing developments
There has been calls to ban dark roofs from new housing developments in municipalities.
Professor Joe Hurley from RMIT’s University Centre for Urban Research told Tom Elliott it is not an issue of poor housing designs, but rather a concern for future livability conditions.
“We can’t continue to be build suburbs that are locking residents into conditions of poor livability and unhealthy environments during our heatwaves in summer,” Hurley says.
