Leigh Matthews thinks a send-off rule should be introduced in the AFL, in light of Jimmy Webster’s big hit on Jy Simpkin.

The football great accused the AFL hierarchy of “putting their head in the sand” on the issue.

“It wouldn’t be used very often, but it should be in place,” Matthews said.
