West Gate tunnel works are causing havoc with some road signs on the major freeway, according to multiple callers to 3AW.

One permanent sign on the West Gate Freeway points in a completely opposite direction to a temporary electronic one, confusing motorists and heightening the risk of accidents.

“My life flashed before my eyes and I nearly died (as a result of the confusion),” Clare told 3AW Drive.
