Corkman Irish Pub developers are fighting State government reconstruction orders
Developers who illegally demolished a Carlton pub, and promised to rebuild it, are fighting a state government reconstruction order.
Planning Minister Richard Wynne told Neil Mitchell it’s an extraordinary situation.
‘I’m very confident that in all the actions that I’ve have taken, in concert with the Lord Mayor and the City of Melbourne that we will be successful in this matter.’
‘They better make up their mind, Neil.
‘Their correspondence to me in October last year is very clear ‘We will reconstruct the hotel as it was forthwith,’ Minister Wynne said on 3AW Mornings.

Bill Kusznirczuk, Urban Planning Expert and Managing Director of Clement Stone Town Planners tells 3AW’s Ross and John the current legislation needs to be reviewed.
‘The simplest response is to introduce legislation that requires this site to be rebuilt as it was originally was 159 years ago, and rebuilt as sympathetically as it possible can in a heritage context.’
Mr Kusznirczuk says a similar incident is ongoing in west London with a pub at the moment.
