Mark Allen is fired up about the AFL’s “absolute joke” three strikes illicit drugs policy.

His strong comments come on the back of the situation around Melbourne’s Joel Smith, which sees him currently provisionally suspended from the game for a positive match day cocaine test.

Marko says footballers need a “kick in the pants”, rather than consultation after recording one strike in the policy.

“The first strike rule (drugs policy) in this competition is doing more damage than good,” he told Tony Moclair on 3AW Afternoons.

“To me these kids need a real kick in the pants – what an absolute joke.”
