Police talk Town Hall scenes as Jewish community considers leaving Victoria
Victoria Police have explained their decisions at Town Hall Tuesday evening following reports they asked members of the Jewish community to move on.
Inspector Leigh Howse, says videos posted online “don’t always” show the full context of a situation.
“This is not about apportioning blame on any person and further the role of police in these type of videos is to keep the peace,” he told Tony Jones, filling in for Tom Elliott.

Sharon, who was at the protest, says she has an issue with what the police has said, and claims they’ve lied about what happened.
“On at least four or five occasions, we did report being assaulted, and asked the police to go and talk to the people who had assaulted us and identify them, apprehend them,” she said.

She’s also revealed members of the Jewish community have considered leaving Victoria following an increase in anti-Semitic attacks.
