It’s been 15 years since the Black Saturday bushfire disaster started, which saw 173 people killed and another 414 injured.

Tom Elliott was broadcasting in Yarra Glen that day for The Weekend Break, before abandoning the broadcast to flee the area, with Neil Mitchell taking over back in the studio.

“I didn’t realise then how bad it was,” the 3AW mornings host said.
