‘Not good enough’: Tom Elliott rips the City of Yarra over Captain Cook monument decision
Tom Elliott has voiced his concerns with the City of Yarra after finding out the council could be set to remove the Captain Cook monument in the Edinburgh Gardens permanently.
The monument has been vandalised on multiple occasions, and the 3AW Mornings host said the council considering scrapping the monument altogether is “unfortunate”.
“He’s part of history, we can’t change that,” Elliott said.

Councillor Stephen Jolly from the City of Yarra said a meeting was held last night, where it was recommended the monument not be put back up due to it being “structurally unsound”.
Councillor Jolly then posed the question if it’s a good use of ratepayers money to put the monument back up.
