3AW host Shane McInnes has called for the dormant Melbourne observational wheel to be moved to a more suitable location.

The city landmark hasn’t been operational since September 2021, ultimately shut down as a result of the pandemic.

But attention is now turning to how the wheel can turn again and Shane believes the radical step of uprooting the entire structure and relocating it elsewhere could be the way forward.

“Can we be brutally honest – the wheel is in the wrong spot,” he said on 3AW Afternoons.

“While it might add a tourist attraction in Docklands, half the ride (was spent) overlooking the freeway and the docks in Footscray and it’s been notoriously hard to get to for tourists.”
