Why ‘reformed character’ Oscar Pistorius is about to released on parole
Those close to disgraced former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius believe he’s a “reformed character” as he prepares to be released on parole, according to The Times Africa correspondent Jane Flanagan.
Pistorius has been behind bars for over eight hours after being convicted of murdering girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, but is now set to re-enter the community in South Africa.
“Under the South Africa justice system, an offender is entitled to be considered for parole after serving more than half their sentence so (Oscar) Pistorius was eligible,” Jane Flanagan explained to Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings.

“People who have worked with him during the rehabilitation all supported the application that he’s a reformed character and doesn’t pose a threat to society.”
