Tony Jones has called out a “completely unnecessary” bike lane in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.

The fill-in 3AW Mornings host admitted he rides to work here and there and “embraces” the bike lanes, but also acknowledges the lanes can be an “absolute pain”.

“It is so big, it is actually like a car lane,” he said.

The topic of bike lanes was brought up on 3AW Mornings in light of a level crossing removal project which would see hundreds of trees on Queens Avenue along Caulfield Racecourse cut down to allow space for new bike lane infrastructure.

Environmental activist and organiser of the QueenSAVEtrees campaign, Tamara De Silva, spoke to Tony jones on what the campaign plans to do to stop the project going ahead.
