The Department of Education stepping in to reverse school expulsions is a “really disappointing situation”, according to the CEO of Real Schools.

It has emerged decisions to expel students by school principles are being regularly reversed, sparking concern that ulterior motives could be at play by higher education bodies.

“It’s a really disappointing situation,” Real Schools CEO Adam Voigt told Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings.

“When principles make the decision to expel, they do it really soberly. It’s a really difficult thing for them to do and there’s an enormous amount they have to (go through) to make the decision.”
