Safety & Technical Director at the Australian and International Pilots Association, Captain Steve Cornell, has weighed in on the scary scenes in Japan overnight.

A Japan Airlines plane and a coastguard aircraft were involved in a collision at Tokyo’s Haneda Aiprort, causing both aircrafts to burst into flames, with five people on the coastguard aircraft dying and the pilot taken to hospital.

But miraculously all 367 passengers on the Japan Airlines aircraft survived, with Captain Cornell stating it was “absolutely amazing to watch the aftermath of the incident unfold” on the live stream.
