2017 BUDGET: Neil Mitchell speaks with Treasurer Scott Morrison
Neil Mitchell has gone head-to-head with the Treasurer over the latest budget.
The big banks are set to be hit with a new levy that would see them paying over $6b over the next four years.
Neil asked Treasurer Scott Morrison if the government can guarantee the banks won’t pass those costs onto the customers.
‘They have no right to pass it onto customers,’ Mr Morrison told Neil.
‘If customers don’t like the decisions banks make, then they can take their business to the Bendigo Bank, they can take it to the smaller banks.’
Scott Morrison says the big banks can afford to do their bit for budget repair.

Neil Mitchell says he doesn’t trust the banks to not pass it on.
‘They’re not going to absorb it, they’ve made that pretty clear,’ said Neil.
