Airbnb learns ‘expensive lesson’ after misleading Australian customers
Airbnb has been fined $15 million for misleading Australian customers, with some prices on the company’s website displaying in US dollars rather than Australian dollars.
This meant customers had to pay more for accommodation than what they should have, and Airbnb will have to pay up to $15 million in compensation to customers impacted by the misleading fees.
Managing Editor of Domain, Alice Stolz, says it’s an “expensive lesson in reading the fine print”.
