Dandenong mayor Lana Formoso has issued an emotional personal plea to Roads Minister Melissa Horne after the tragic death of a two-year-old boy.

She told 3AW’s Heidi Murphy she’s been campaigning for traffic lights to improve safety at the corner of Studd and McFees roads in Dandenong North since 2012.

On Sunday, she was on the scene when a toddler was struck by a car and killed at the intersection.
