Wayne Gatt warns of a ‘community safety crisis’ as police industrial action escalates
Police union boss Wayne Gatt was warned a “community safety crisis” is brewing as industrial action from Victoria Police members ramps up.
Police are threatening to stop issuing speeding fines as part of an ongoing fight for a new pay deal, with Gatt claiming “they’ve got no choice”.
“The government’s actually got to move here, not to solve an industrial dispute, but to solve a community safety dispute that is just deteriorating under its watch,” Gatt told 3AW Breakfast.
