Soft drink price rise directly linked to new Victorian container recycling scheme
WORD ON THE STREET
A commercial customer of Coca-Cola has confirmed prices of some soft drinks have risen to cover the cost of Victoria’s new container deposit scheme.
Caller Fotis, who works in the industry, told Tom Elliott that he has seen first hand that price rises are directly linked to the new scheme, which promises a 10 cent refund per can recycled.
“We had the rep (of Coca-Cola) come out and let us know that slabs of (some particular drinks) are going up between two or three dollars a slab to cover the cost of the 10 cent rebate,” Fotis said on 3AW Drive.
