Matthew Richardson suggests 17 round AFL season
Matthew Richardson says the time may have come to shorten the AFL season.
The Richmond great has floated the idea of each team only playing each other once, for a total of 17 games.
The 3AW Football commentator said the intensity of the modern game had become too much to play three pre-season games, 22 home and away games and then finals.
‘Injury tolls mounting everywhere,’ Richo said on Twitter.
Think it’s time for 17 game season. Intensity of game to high for 3 JLT, 22 H&A plus finals. Injury tolls mounting everywhere.
