Victoria’s new container scheme has come into effect but people who have gone to drop their items off have already run into issues.

3AW news director, Gail Watson, says she was excited by the scheme and had checked the site after it was updated late last week.

“My interest now is two-fold because I need to send one of my journo’s out to look at one of these sites, when I’ve gone this morning to check the map, the places I was going to send them have disappeared,” she told Neil Mitchell.

Recycling expert at Deakin University, Dr Trevor Thorton, says Victorians need to be patient as some sites could take a year to “settle down”.

“This should have been well and truly out there by now, so most people would be able to access it,” he says.
