RUMOUR CONFIRMED

This year’s Melbourne Cup parade has been cancelled.

On Tuesday, Ross Stevenson shared the news on the Rumour File, citing cost and animal rights activists as the reasons for the cancellation.

Today, The Age reports the City of Melbourne will not fund the parade this year, and the Victoria Racing Club didn’t apply for funding for the event.

The VRC has applied for funding for the parade in 2024.
