Thousands of firefighters have descended on Melbourne’s CBD after a breakdown in wage talks between the Andrews government and the United Firefighters Union.

The Rumour File was tipped off to the rally last week.

United Firefighters Union secretary Peter Marshall says “this is about our survival”.
