Crime reporter John ‘Sly’ Silvester says there’s one question both police and the underworld are asking at the moment, after Gavin “Capable” Preston was gunned down at a Keilor Village cafe in broad daylight.

The notorious underworld figure was shot just after 10.20am on Saturday.

Sly says Preston was at war “on about six fronts” and “in the underworld you need more friends than enemies”.

“Preston was extremely dangerous but not powerful,” he told Ross and Russel.
