A Williamstown street is being renamed due to a council error decades ago.

Residents in Hoffman Terrace have received a letter informing them the spelling of their street name is incorrect and has been changed.

“Former Mayor, Leo Ronald Hoffman was commemorated in 1987 by a plaque that was laid in his honour, however our internal systems have been spelling the name Hoffman Terrace (one ‘n),” the letter read.

Residents have been told they will “need to amend” their address for all personal correspondence.
