The AFL’s new footy boss says trips to Waverley Park as a child planted the seed that has led to her becoming the first female head of football operations in the game’s history.

Laura Kane has been appointed the AFL’s executive general manager and spoke with Neil Mitchell on Monday after being unveiled in the role.
