‘Ridiculous’: Decision to reduce water bombing capacity slammed by former emergency management commissioner
It’s been revealed by The Age and 3AW, Victoria’s water bombing capacity has been cut by almost a third ahead of the bushfire season.
Former emergency management commissioner from 2014 to 2018, Craig Lapsley, says any decision to cut back on capacity is “ridiculous.”
“It’s critical to have good aircraft – big aircraft … Victoria’s one of the most fire-prone areas of the world, you need your aircraft, and the royal commission in ’09 was very clear about that, the one in 2020 was clear about that,” he told Neil Mitchell.
