The former mayor of the area ravaged in the Black Saturday fires believes conditions leading into the next fire season are “worse” than they were before the devastating 2009 fires.

Lyn Gunter, who was mayor of Murrundindi Shire during the fires and aso a member of the Black Saturday Stakeholder Reference Group, says “fuel loads are massive”.

“I don’t think we’ve learnt,” she told Neil Mitchell.
