Police conduct safety check at Flinders Street Station
UPDATE: Police say a report from a concerned member of the public prompted a police operation at Flinders Street Station.
Officers descended on platforms eight and nine, boarded a train and conducted a security check this morning which resulted in the partial shutdown of the station.
The incident caused delays of about half an hour for some commuters
Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton told Neil Mitchell a member of the public alerted police.
‘We had a report, I think from the events last night and the hyper-vigilance in the community…we had a report of someone looking at deceased bodies on a mobile phone,’ he said.
‘It turned out to be nothing in it.’
