Location of Victoria’s first sobering up centre revealed
The community health provider that will run Victoria’s first “sobering up centre” was not aware it had won the tender until it was contacted by the media yesterday.
The 20-bed facility in Cambridge Street, Collingwood, will be run by community health provider cohealth, and is expected to be up and running before the decriminalisation of public drunkenness comes into effect on November 7.
Victorian Ambulance Union secretary Danny Hill says there’s hope the new system will take pressure off paramedics.
