RUMOUR FILE: Junior footy team stripped of 2017 premiership points due to administrative error
RUMOUR CONFIRMED: A junior footy team has been stripped of 2017 premiership points due to an administrative error.
3AW Breakfast’s Rumour File heard the Sorrento Junior Football had lost two rounds of 2017 premiership points because a team member’s registration papers weren’t in order.
President of the Sorrento Junior Football Club Jono Cade confirmed the under 12 Sorrento Sharks girls footy team had its round one and two points stripped.
“It was a league decision due to an administrative error that has occurred…a player wasn’t registered at the time of play,” he said.
“The club is frustrated that this happened, this is the first time we’ve had a junior girls team and we want to support and get as many girls coming through our club as we can.
“These girls have been training since November and for whatever reason they’ve been stripped of their eight premiership points.
“What’s happened has happened, we don’t dwell on it…we have to adhere to the rules and regulations.”
Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League President Andrew Souter said he was, “dealing with running a league…I have no comment.”
