Why an expert thinks the SRL should be scrapped
Questions are being raised about the future of the Suburban Rail Loop after the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games.
Program director of transport and cities at the Grattan Institute, Marion Terrill says the state government should scrap the SRL.
“The Suburban Rail Loop is the one big one that’s left outstanding where the benefits are only going to be either 60 or 70 cents or 51 cents for every dollar spent … The expense of this project is just off the charts, it was [sic] going to take a generation to pay off,” she told Tom Elliott.
