The invasive red fire ant species has infested south-east Queensland as federal and state ministers fail to agree on funding for an eradication program.

Advocacy manager at the Invasive Species Council, Jack Gough, says a two-year old report suggested the allocation of $200-300 million each year for 10 years.

“Jittering and delay have been the order of the day from our governments unfortunately for the last two years over this year, I think it’s bulking at the ticket price of the cost of the eradication program despite those impacts we’re seeing,” he told Ross and Russel.
