Australia extends sheep meat dominance as flock numbers soar

Australia’s sheep flock will reach 78-point-7-5 million head this year, the highest level since 2007.

Three years of above-average rainfall has driven an “intense rebuild” of the flock.

Rural reporter Ella Smith spoke to Meat and Livestock Australia’s Senior Market Information Analyst Ripley Atkinson about how this will affect sheep meat prices, and what a few dry years ahead will mean for the industry.
