New research conducted by Aware Super, surveyed 3,500 Australians, and revealed one in three younger Australians are hoping to retire before the age of 55.

The research also concluded eight per cent of those surveyed didn’t know how much money they would need to retire, with 29 per cent believing they would need less than $500,000 to support them through their 30 plus year retirement.

Demographer and social researcher, Claire Madden, thinks the trend is “certainly aspirational” but is not sure of how realistic that goal is.
