Earthquake strikes east of Melbourne
A magnitude-4.6 earthquake has struck east of Melbourne.
Geoscience Australia says the tremor occurred between Rawson and Mansfield, in Victoria’s high country, at about 1.30am.
The tremor struck at a depth of three kilometres and was felt across Melbourne, with more than 8000 reports from Victorians who felt it.

“We’re always prepared and ready to respond if there is a need for us to do so,” SES duty officer Aaron White told 3AW Breakfast.

It comes only a month after the strongest earthquake in metropolitan Melbourne in more than 120 years, which struck in Sunbury last month.
