Police are appealing for witnesses to a fire at a business in Collingwood early this morning.

Police were called to Smith Street just before 3am this morning, where it’s understood three people used hammers to break a store’s front glass window before lighting the fire and fleeing the scene in a silver SUV.

After the fire was extinguished, police found jerry cans nearby.

Officers patrolled the area but were unable to find the offenders.
