Music historian weighs in on artificial intelligence in music

Sir Paul McCartney has shared he is creating the final Beatles song using artificial intelligence technology to extract John Lennon’s voice from an old demo.

Australian music historian Alan Howe says that while AI technology has a “genuine” use in this project he disapproves of imitation covers made using AI.

Mr Howe told Neil Mitchell the human “imperfections” of John Lennon’s voice are what made him distinctive.
