Advice from the NRMA on filling up on fuel was “useful two weeks ago” says the CEO of the Australasian Convenience & Petroleum Marketers.

Mark McKenzie told Neil Mitchell the advice to fill up quickly before the long weekend does not apply to Melburnians.

“The cycle in Melbourne actually peaked on the weekend, it peaked on Saturday,” Mr McKenzie said.

Mr McKenzie suggests to hold off as the downward part of the cycle will last for the next few weeks.

“If you’re now at a point where you need to fill up, don’t rush in now, expect it to drop by another cent or two a day over the next week or two,” he said.
