Medical Board introduces new telehealth rules
The Medical Board of Australia has today released new guidelines for telehealth practitioners, following “major concern” over patients receiving scripts without ever actually speaking to a doctor.
Chair of the Medical Board of Australia, Dr Anne Tonkin, says “there are really serious problems” with people filling out a form and receiving a prescription.
“We’re making it very clear in the guidelines that doctors are expected to have conversations with their patients, whether they’re doing that in person or via telehealth,” she told Neil Mitchell.
