Liberal MP Zoe McKenzie says more taxes aren’t the answer to solving Victoria’s housing crisis, which exploded in her seat during lockdown.

The Member for Flinders said there were 1500 people sleeping on the foreshore on the Mornington Peninsula due to housing shortages.

She said a “huge change” during COVID, where property owners turned to short-stay accommodation such as Airbnb, rather than renting their properties, had fuelled the housing problem.

“Can we please not talk about more taxes? Can we please talk about incentivisation to build more,” she said on 3AW.
